Hello & Welcome

I'm Jodi a Wedding and Portrait photographer on the stunning Sunshine Coast - Australia.  Thanks for visiting my journal - this is quite a new project for me - showcase all things new & exciting at Jodi McDonald Photography - recent work, give clients a quick sneek peek,  any specials or promotions, jot down some hopefully interesting bits 'n pieces and keep me on the path. Absolutely love my photography and anything photography related - hopefully it is evident in my work.  Love to capture happy fun people being themselves - if this sounds like you I'm sure we'll hit it off. Please visit my website to view more of my work and extra info.  It is clearly apparent that you can learn more about someone through regular visits to their blog than reading their Bio. Love to read comments and meet new bloggers like myself - don't be shy. Thanks again and come back to see what else I've been up to.

Sunshine Coast Bridal Suppliers Shoot

So now I'm back here is the full post from our Bridal Shoot a week or so ago. Yes stunning Teearn produced three looks for us and as you can see from last years shoot (view previous post) we have pushed the creative side in all aspects - hair, make-up, gowns and lighting. We wanted to create something with impact - not traditional bridal - nice and sweet and safe!!!!  Again must mention the talented team behind the shoot - Trish Falzon make-up, Vicki Nelis hair & Evita from A Touch of Romance Bridal gowns.

August Exposure Seminar - Gold Coast

Arrived home last night from four amazing days on the Gold Coast attending the August Exposure seminar. A range of speakers from different fields and different levels BUT if anyone attending didn't learn something from EACH of the speakers I would be amazed.  It was a priceless investment for my business from an educational viewpoint and socially I met some awesome photographers from all over Australia - friends I should say.  So my point is no matter what level or stage you are at seminars, workshops or just networking is so valuable - it is hard to measure the impact it can have.  So I'm guessing you can get a sense of the impact and my increased enthusiasm - truly inspirational.  Wont list all the speakers again but Greg Dries from Moods Photography and Tracey from Photography by Visage were especially Inspirational to me. Huge shout out to Rob & Shirl Heyman for putting it all together and creating the CLICK!!!!!!!

No images from seminar to be shown anywhere so here is the gorgeous by night Gold Coast from my hotel room.

Bridal Suppliers Shoot - Sunshine Coast

So same time last year when the wedding season is a little slow (winter) Trish Falzon amazing make-up artist, Vicki Nelis who creates stunning hair, Dana from Princess for a Day Bridal Boutique & I got together for a days bridal shoot. Do something a little different have some advertising material. Three models three different looks - young Jesse in the first was 18 year newbie to modelling and is now O/S killing it. So just a couple of samples from each and the last is from this years little get together! Evita from A Touch of Romance  supplied the gowns this year and was so accommodating.  Teearn was our amazing model - three looks again but one model. Will post some more when back from 4 days on the Gold Coast for seminar - flat out with a bundle of orders to process for lab before this week away. But do come back - some of the images, lighting and backdrop are incredible - pushed it creatively quite a bit more this year - which is the whole intention.
Not taking laptop so not sure when how often access internet though I promise to reply as soon as return late next week.

Gorgeous Gemma - Sunshine Coast Baby

Had the absolute pleasure of capturing Gemma who is the youngest sister of Luke and Chloe (sweet shot of these two on my website). Mum has separate images of the eldest two around the same age 8 mths and this shoot is to give Gemma her own special pic to match theirs. A full family session is on the cards for Christmas - beautiful looking family. She is as scrummy as she looks - fell in love with my Lucy's laughing doll which kept us amused. Mum was worried we didn't get her killer smile (that one they never show the photographer) though quite sure we got everything else.

Manga Me Avatar

Okay this is just a bit of fun. Those of you who have seen my mug - does this look like me? Go here if you want to see what your "Manga Face" looks like. Avatar's literal meaning is "Incarnation of God onto earth" from Sanskrit 'avatarah'. So your avatar represents you and is a projection of your "virtual incarnation". Sorry that just took all the fun out of it didn't it. I'll come blog hunting to view your manga face.

Montegos on the Bay, Kawana Island Wedding

Meet Mr & Mrs Alan Holmes. What an absolute pleasure it was to meet these guys and more so to capture their special day. Cathryn got ready with her son Zac and the girls at Seamark 1st Ave Mooloolaba. Amazing 2 story apartment with views to die for. All giggles and smiles and silly shenanigans with the girls before I headed over to Alan's family holiday home in Buddina. It was an extremely emotional day for Alan has he has lost both parents in the last couple of years. I captured an image of him looking through his parents wedding album in the sun room surrounded by old furniture and sentimental keepsakes of theirs. His emotions were very raw all day. They were married on the beach front of Montegos on the Bay, Kawana Island where the reception was also held. Beautiful winter's afternoon. Stunning Sunset. Gorgeous couple. What else could you ask for!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh okay a 3 month honeymoon - Everest, Canada, New York, Bali - just a couple of the places I can remember. Congratulations and thanks for letting me be a part of it.
NB See if you can spot me in two images - I'm behind the camera - you guys are pretty clever no hints.

Random Rollers

This week my eldest Danica competed with her school squad at the State Cheerleading Championships in Brisbane. The night before I had to roll up 50 of these little beauties into her long thick hair - about 1 1/2 hours I think. Poor thing woke with a headache and felt like the elephant man. By contrast when they took the rollers out that afternoon the rest of the girls called her a Poodle. Just a random post - wedding this afternoon, need to process and post a couple from a gorgeous studio shoot and look out for a creative little shoot which is in the pipelines. Thanks for coming and reading the ramble to the end!

Wakefield Family

This is a recent shoot of some long-time friends - Glen & Julie. Lots of history here - worked with Julie, we were out drinking at original Mooloolaba pub the night she met Glen. Here they are over 14 years later happily married, two gorgeous boys Sam & Hudson, presently living in Vietnam (on holidays back here) and about to move to Tasmania - work that one out for extemes. Tassie is the little Island state on the bottom of Aussie - very similar to countryside and climate of the UK.
So back in OZ but just as far away nearly.
No creative processing today these are to compliment past family shoots I shot and printed with wait for it...... Black & White film on true B&W paper. First up is standard family portrait then some great candid moments and expressions. Love these guys.
