Hello & Welcome

I'm Jodi a Wedding and Portrait photographer on the stunning Sunshine Coast - Australia.  Thanks for visiting my journal - this is quite a new project for me - showcase all things new & exciting at Jodi McDonald Photography - recent work, give clients a quick sneek peek,  any specials or promotions, jot down some hopefully interesting bits 'n pieces and keep me on the path. Absolutely love my photography and anything photography related - hopefully it is evident in my work.  Love to capture happy fun people being themselves - if this sounds like you I'm sure we'll hit it off. Please visit my website to view more of my work and extra info.  It is clearly apparent that you can learn more about someone through regular visits to their blog than reading their Bio. Love to read comments and meet new bloggers like myself - don't be shy. Thanks again and come back to see what else I've been up to.

PMA Australia

The Photo Marketing Association (PMA) and the Photo Imaging Council of Australia is presently holding the second new show concept for the Asia-Pacific in Brisbane.  I visited yesterday and it was amazing - the exhibitors ranged from album manufacturers, equipment retailers, photographic associations, software, printers/labs, services and on and on and on. This coincides with the National Australian Institute of Professional Photography Awards - one of my main reasons for going.
Local Legend Ross Eason (whom I assisted for a couple of years) was judging the Landscape Section. We had a coffee and a chat - local photographers will be happy to know Ross is keen to get a 2-3 monthly pow wow together for photog's to 'chew the fat' (will post/contact details sooner than later when he/we sort it).   Fingers crossed Ross picked up some awards!!!!!
Check out his published book Kokada - Images of a Rugged Journey.
Caught up with Lindsey Merrit on the Asuka stand (gorgeous coffee table books) who runs Pixel Perfect - my preferred Pro Lab - awesome quality and control.  And another drawcard for me was to meet Kelly Munce who was working on the Asuka stand.  Totally admire where Kelly has come from, how she embraces her photography and her creativity. She is so down to earth it was a pleasure and if you haven't heard of her you soon will.  Saw some big name Australian photogs but must mention the local gal photog's I ran into. Calli, Lee-ann, Jennifer and young bubbly Bambi. Good to see some other Coast faces down there. Hoping the rain settles tomorrow for my portrait shoot.

Jaz & Neeka

Two posts in one day!  Shot this yesterday the girls were ultra keen to see the results and of course to show them off to their friends.  You will recognize my daughter Danica and this is my gorgeous niece Jasmin.  The girls have grown up together and are like sisters.  They absolutely love to have a laugh and it doesn't take much - this was a great afternoon  - cool locations, awesome light and stunning girls.  Have been playing around in the digital darkroom with some different processing also - now I know where the time goes.
Thanks for the fun and games - I thoroughly enjoyed myself and you both look pretty hot.
PS In a couple of days I will post a gallery of the shoot on my website - soooooo many good images - it will be the featured shoot.  Go have a look.

Aqua Vista

Aqua Vista is newly opened on 6th Avenue Maroochydore.  Sally from Beneenie contacted me to capture some images for web/brochure/advertising purposes.  Absolutely gorgeous apartments with views to die for.  Nice and central to the beach, cafe scene in Cotton Tree and the Sunshine Plaza for retail therapy.
I don't advertise my commercial services though more than happy to oblige when time/schedule permits.

Joanne & Gary

This would have to be one of the most colourful weddings.  PINK & ORANGE Roses with green. Joanne & Gary were married Saturday at the Caloundra Power Boat Club - went against the norm and had the ceremony on the balcony rather than the gazebo.  Picture perfect weather though it was a little harsh in the middle of the day.  Terrianne from Mondo Floral Designs did an amazing job with the bouquet and the very cute rose wands for the girls. The colours were fantastic against Joanne's beautiful silk outfit in pink - not traditional but very refreshing.  Joanne & Gary are off to the Whitsundays for their Honeymoon.

Photographers Lunch

Young Norm from Divine Studios has initiated a monthly lunch for wedding suppliers on the coast (appears to be predominantly Photog's).  The intention being to network, share ideas, support and create a professional standard across the board. Since the first one in early December last year it is slowly finding its feet.  Some new photographers to the coast at yesterdays - Stephen Innis, Phill Jackson, & Katja Anton - Luke and Sally did not have cards with them. Kylie Jane (make-up) brought her gorgeous new baby boy to socialize.
Normy attends a similar lunch in Bris Vegas for photographers and invited two as special guests.
Paula from Thats Me Photography is so fresh and bright - we hit it off - love her approach to photography and life. She is just powering and I hope it is contagious.

The other is Peter Williams from Turning Heads Photography.  From the short time I spent with Peter you can appreciate his passion for photography and it's future directions as well as his ability to educate.  He is hoping to hold some workshops for Coast photographers (on the coast) if there is enough interest.  Imparting valuable information for all aspects of a photography business - I will be spreading the word.  If you are reading this and interested drop Peter an email with your contact details.

It was great day and I have already implemented some snipets.

Sunday Arvo

Beautiful Sunday Arvo - the kids love to ride the skateboard down the footpath. Had a pleasant Mother's Day - even managed a sleep in!!!! Visited my Mum, loads of washing and bits n pieces for the day.  Must admit it is a bad hair day for all three of my youngest - Danica the eldest lost somewhere in 'Myspace'.  Had to grab a butt shot of my Ian - not bad either.........

Luka

Have a look at the eyes on little Luka ............ Have known Jackie & Michael from school days - true locals to the coast as well (my small claim to fame). Though Mic has been away for most of Luka's short life so far - his music has him in India. Jackie & Luka are about to join him for a couple of months.
Check out the gorgeous robe and slippers - Mum got it out for the shoot. Hoping she will bring out her killer smiles next time I have the pleasure of photographing her.
Safe travels girls.
