Hello & Welcome

I'm Jodi a Wedding and Portrait photographer on the stunning Sunshine Coast - Australia.  Thanks for visiting my journal - this is quite a new project for me - showcase all things new & exciting at Jodi McDonald Photography - recent work, give clients a quick sneek peek,  any specials or promotions, jot down some hopefully interesting bits 'n pieces and keep me on the path. Absolutely love my photography and anything photography related - hopefully it is evident in my work.  Love to capture happy fun people being themselves - if this sounds like you I'm sure we'll hit it off. Please visit my website to view more of my work and extra info.  It is clearly apparent that you can learn more about someone through regular visits to their blog than reading their Bio. Love to read comments and meet new bloggers like myself - don't be shy. Thanks again and come back to see what else I've been up to.

New Home for My Blog

Okay it needed to be done - jump from blogspot over to my funky new template. Really could have picked a better time - with not so much other stuff that needs doing. But so happy it is done and looks pretty sweet. So all regular visitors, occasional lookers and those stumbling on to this blog please go HERE.  If something is amiss or not working please let me know & don't forget to add the new address to your reader/bookmarks etc.

A little incentive to keep following myself and more so the adventures of little Lucy - one of her latest discoveries in big sister's room - MAKE-UP! How could you ever go mad at that face - focus ok could have been better if I wasn't laughing.

Mentoring Nicole - Sunshine Coast Photographer

Meet young Nicole - how cool is she???? I was approached some months ago to mentor a photography student - pass on some knowledge & experience throughout their study years to help them reach their full potential - HA you might say. Certainly I don't know everything but was honored to be approached. This is a great chance to guide inspire encourage a fresh green young talent, as well as give back both to the industry and community. The Smith Family (who approached me) is single-minded in it's endeavor to ensure education is a priority. This is Nicole's first year of two and as a group they had to hold an exhibition - promotion, opening night and running it for a week. So these are a couple in the exhibition space at Mooloolaba beachfront - prime position - not a bad get for 1st year students.
I completed the same Diploma a few years ago now - though with digital totally saturating the industry now it is a little different. Some great work was displayed by all the students. Will see &/or hear more of Nicole over the next year and a half. One thing is for sure we will have a good time. The second B&W is for Shelly - little inside joke between them.

My Girls & I - Sunshine Coast Photographer

Well TWO of my three girls - the eldest and the youngest. Really had my heart set on Eric from Raw Photo Design working his magic on me but alas he is far too busy for little ol' me. So I dragged Danica from her computer to grab some head shots of myself - not as edgy as young Eric would have produced but they will do until he has an opening. Still couldn't get the phone from her - kids today can't breathe I'm sure without them! Though she did manage to click a couple off for me - no not with the Kodak Brownie. She then proceeded to lecture me on how to take a self-portrait - notice I am close to totally out of the frame - her next lesson will be lens selection. Yes she is sharp in every pic so I guess she is pretty good capturing HERSELF - it was a good laugh though. And just because she was running around being her ever so happy self little Lucy - funniest kid I know - it might be the double chin or BOZO the clown hairdo! Love her style.

Random Stuff - Sunshine Coast Photographer

Okay head down and b..m up at the moment! Processing portrait & wedding orders as well as normal shooting and occasional family commitments - you know like school, nippers, swim lessons, school interviews for senior year, general running around ..... you get the idea. Yes a tad busy - but not complaining. Have got as far as downloading these jobs but yet to fully process - but here are some of what's to come. A very cool wedding look at the colour of her dress, E-session (funny funny shoot this one - can't wait for next years wedding), portrait session for Reader's Digest (massive feature on Surf Life Saving) and last image is a beauty of my Jene` with cousins Ruby & Levi when they were here on holidays from Airlie Beach. Also been lucky enough to be approached to mentor a young photography student - will have more about this and other RANDOM STUFF - just wanted to check in and say hi - have some fabulous regular visitors here and need to show my face & appreciation to the faithful.

Manly Sea Eagles Premiers - Sunshine Coast Supporters

Well technically school is back this week though family still in town means the kids got lucky with a couple of extra days off. So in the spirit of holidays, great food, a good supply of alcohol, awesome company and a Football Final..............
The Manly Sea Eagles are the NRL 2008 Premiers - shame no Qld team to follow though between one sister living in Sydney who is a die-hard fan (pics below of her in action) and my partner Ian a Northern Beaches Boy - it was obvious who to go for!!!! Or was it - my other sister Mandy with hubby Doug (from north Qld) were barracking for Melbourne Storm. Who would have thought the final score would be 40-0. But some fresh fresh seafood, some entertainment from the younger generation - concerts are a big family tradition - and then we finished with the good ol pavlova.
Family Session coming in a day or two.

Surf Sand Freckles & Nintendo - Holidays at Alexandra Headland

A quick post with some snaps of my wee ones. Now into 2nd week of school holidays - grandparents from Sydney up for a week. My sister Mandy and family down from Airlie Beach for a couple of days, now down northern NSW and will be back (definitely grab some pics of Ruby and Levi), my other sister Trudy will also be up from Syndey this weekend - and then throw in some work and boy where does the time go. Been hitting the gorgeous beaches here - Mooloolaba Beach the best for little ones as it is a protected bay beach , though Alex is OUR "home" beach (more open surf beach) - straight down the end of our street. Yes very spoilt - if I don't have to take the camera I wont (you know that work thing) so these are after the beach. Gotta love the bean bag - my kids do and it saves all the sand, food etc on the leather. Little Lucy is too cute - she thinks she is also racing - bet she will have it down pat by the time they actually plug her in. The absent eldest has been working her little butt off - 6 days last week - good thing about that is she is taking Jene` to the movies today with HER hard earned money.
Will be posting a fun 70th Birthday Bash and two of the cutest kids - promise I'll be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manga Me Avatar

Okay this is just a bit of fun. Those of you who have seen my mug - does this look like me? Go here if you want to see what your "Manga Face" looks like. Avatar's literal meaning is "Incarnation of God onto earth" from Sanskrit 'avatarah'. So your avatar represents you and is a projection of your "virtual incarnation". Sorry that just took all the fun out of it didn't it. I'll come blog hunting to view your manga face.

Random Rollers

This week my eldest Danica competed with her school squad at the State Cheerleading Championships in Brisbane. The night before I had to roll up 50 of these little beauties into her long thick hair - about 1 1/2 hours I think. Poor thing woke with a headache and felt like the elephant man. By contrast when they took the rollers out that afternoon the rest of the girls called her a Poodle. Just a random post - wedding this afternoon, need to process and post a couple from a gorgeous studio shoot and look out for a creative little shoot which is in the pipelines. Thanks for coming and reading the ramble to the end!

Days with my Father

This is just an amazing site dedicated by a son (photographer Phillip Toledano) to his time left with his father - Days with my father. This is both sad and joyful (whimsical at times) and for me produced a very reflective mood today - having lost my father in my teens I felt cheated I never got to truly know my father. In the same breath I feel blessed with where I am, what I have and most importantly who I am surrounded by. Take the time to view these images strengthened by his powerful yet simple use of words.
These are my four biggest blessings amongst others - Danica Jene` Luke & Lucy.
